"Giving Gives You Wings" Campaign
Butterflies give us so much: beauty, peace, joy, and a connection with nature. Seeing a butterfly's colorful wings gives our hearts and minds "wings". We help them by planting gardens with their preferred nectar plants, caterpillar host plants, and leave natural areas undisturbed. As we give to butterflies, let's also give back to our community during this year's Butterfly Festival. Participate in the "Giving Gives You Wings" campaign by donating a non-perishable food item at the Mount Magazine Action Group information table when you arrive. Your donation will be delivered to Community Outreach Services, which helps thousands of people. When you drop off a non-perishable food item or financial contribution, you receive a badge stating "I earned my wings today!" because giving gives you a great feeling, similar to seeing your favorite butterfly!

Benefield Self-Directed Trail
Discover the park at your own pace on this spur trail. Flowers, ferns, trees, and other wonders of nature are the focus of 12 stations. Each station is numbered, and corresponds to interpretation in a special brochure, which is available during the festival from the Mount Magazine Action Group volunteer table. The trail begins at the Benefield trailhead located at the Benefield Picnic Area, located approximately 2 miles southeast of the visitor center on Highway 309. Please stay on the trail for your safety and to decrease impact. Allow at least one hour to complete this trail, which depends on your pace and wildlife activity.
